WATER SKIING

Waterskiing injuries unfortunately occur at high speeds, which means they are traumatic in most incidences.  Most injuries are collision related; either with the water or an object at high speed. Some of the most common injuries would most likely occur to your feet or lower legs. Some of these injuries would include: ankle strains or ankle sprains .This would occur because your feet are bound to the skis which would have your feet go in one direction while your body would go in a completely different direction. A few of these other injuries from water-skiing would be to the head or neck region. The head or neck injuries would only include lacerations from being the only exposed area while someone would be water-skiing. Concussions, shoulder strains, or sprains could also be a common injury from water-skiing due to how hard or fast the point of impact would be.

Roughly about 20 percent of water-skiing injuries are either ankle strains or ankle strains and about 10 percent are either head or neck injuries.

Overuse injuries can occur as well when there is not proper rest or healing between injuries.
