BOWLING

Bowling is a fun game that can be played casually or professionally. The bowling market alone in the US is a 6 billion dollar a year industry. While some athletes think that bowling doesn’t cause too many injuries, it actually does.

In the game of bowling there are many injuries that can occur. During a game you have a very heavy ball that you have to hold with your fingers and then have to swing the ball back and forwards before delivery. It may seem like a simple action but the player has to do this many times during a game and this can cause repetitive motion injuries in the joints and muscles.  Traumatic injuries can occur if the player drops the ball on their foot or slips and falls on the lanes.

Most commons injuries are in the back, arms, wrists, hands and legs. These are commonly overuse injuries due to repetitive motion and or strenuous motions placed on the body’s muscles and joints. They can become chronic conditions if not treated properly. Proper body mechanics as well improperly fitting shoes can result in injuries as well.

British Sports Therapy can help you prevent muscle injuries as well as helping you recover more quickly from injuries.  This can include but not limited to Soft Tissue Release, Myofascial techniques, stretching, cross fiber friction, and Trigger Point Therapy. After a thorough assessment of the athletes’ body mechanics, a treatment planned will be created to help you achieve your optimum performance.
