Muscle pain is also known as myalgia, or simply aches in the muscles. Muscle aches are extremely common. Almost everybody has likely experienced discomfort in his or her muscles at some point.

MUSCLE

Significant muscle injury occurs when you experience pulled muscle, muscle strain, muscle spasm or torn muscle. Typical symptoms of post-exercise are sore muscles or muscle aches.

The result of injury to your muscle results in muscle pain, spasms, weakness and reduced performance.

If you experience any of these symptoms, you most likely have muscle strain:

  • unable to stretch muscle fully
  • bruising
  • weakness

Any injury, tear or muscle strain can cause muscle pain. The usual muscle injuries occur during the high speed and load bearing muscles such as your thigh, hamstrings, calf, biceps and back.  Muscle tears can range from mild, to moderate, to severe. Treatment options vary depending on the severity of your strain or tear.

If you have any symptoms of muscle injury until you seek the advice of your doctor, try these tips:

  • If the region is swollen elevate the area.
  • Use crutches it is painful to walk.

Ideally your sport therapist should at least:

  • Avoiding injury recurrence your sport therapist should perform an assessment of your muscle function, core stability and biomechanics.
  • Custom sport massage to break up any scar tissue.
  • Rehabilitation program that includes a treatment plan to regain strength, flexibility, speed and endurance.
  • application of a heat retainer to the area when you return to sport.
  • application ice therapy after any training sessions
  • Achilles Tendon Rupture
  • Achilles Tendonitis / Tendinitis
