NECK

A stiff neck or neck pain is very common and in different ways affect your life. Neck pain can be a dull muscular ache, sharp pain, headache and / or limited mobility of movement of   your head. In most cases this is very simple to fix.

Assessment and diagnosis of the cause of neck pain is important to determine the right treatment plan for you.  Consult with your doctor to determine the source of the pain. Your sport therapist will design a treatment plan just for you.

Neck Joints and Muscles

Neck joints (cervical spine) typically become stiff. This stiffness causes a muscle spasm of some shoulder and neck muscles and in turn creates weakness of other muscles. The longer this continues the harder it is to reverse. This strains adjacent muscles and joints and continues to get worse, the result is a sore neck.

One characteristic of a stiff neck is one tight or weak muscle can have a major effect resulting in pain and limited mobility if not addressed early. At Olympic Sport Therapy we find a combination of techniques including muscle stretching, massage, strength exercise and postural analysis are required to reverse a patients recurring neck pain.
